How is parenthood doing in the ratings

Photos Top cast Edit. Craig T. Nelson Zeek Braverman as Zeek Braverman. Jason Katims. More like this. Watch options. Storyline Edit. A family tree with Zeek Craig T. Nelson and Camille Braverman Bonnie Bedelia serving as the patriarch and matriarch. After forty-six years of marriage, they've managed to keep their foundation intact by burying their problems underneath the surface for the sake of their now-adult children.

Adam Peter Krause is the first-born and the ripest apple the tree has to offer. He runs a shoe company, has a supportive wife, two children boy and girl and a beautiful home to share with them. He's a dog short of "The American Dream". Sarah Lauren Graham , is the unstable daughter returning home at thirty-eight years of age with her rebellious daughter and sensitive son to live with Zeek and Camille.

Crosby Dax Shepard , is a happy-go-lucky bachelor living in the now, on a docked boat. He has no idea that his frivolous life is about to change tremendously. Then there is Julia Erika Christensen. She is the bread-winning shot-calling lawyer, whose husband mans the stay-at-home-dad duties. To me this was real TV. I felt like I was watching my own family. Please bring Parenthood back!! If not to NBC maybe as a Netflix series:. I love the cast! I think people want to see more of this type of show.

No cops no lawyers no doctors just a family who love each other dealing with each other and issues as they come up. These type of shows used to be all over television now they hardly exist. Please bring show back!!!!! This show and the cast of characters and the storylines could have gone on forever and certainly more than the six season it got! I also believe that they took if off the air with more than 8 million viewers…which seems like a lot to me.

Viewing models were shifting, and anything with an out-of-date mindset suffered. After a false war, disappearing jobs and the stark realization of being forced into an adult world many are ill-prepared to live in, many films and TV shows have focused on the negative. Katims and his writing staff never pandered to their audience, even when giving them exactly what they wanted, such as spoiler alert when Joel and Julia reunited only a few episodes ago. The cast will be missed not because of the relatable allure of the familiar, but because these superstars came together to form an equal partnership on screen and off.

They shared the spotlight as actors, allowing each player to carry their own burdens just as the writers constructed equally important narratives for each player over the six seasons. This isn't the first time someone tried to make Ron Howard 's acclaimed family dramedy into a television series, but this incarnation of the franchise is a series with real staying power. Another version aired under the same title in but was promptly canceled due to low ratings, despite the presence of promising young stars like Leonardo DiCaprio and Thora Birch.

Because Howard and longtime producing partner Brian Grazer are at the helm, Parenthood seems to be getting the care and feeding it deserves -- and the cast is peppered with proven performers who can deliver the goods.

Families can talk about Parenthood 's portrayal of family life and whether or not it's realistic. Does the show glamorize aspects of family togetherness, etc.? How does this family compare to yours and other families you know? Most of the focus is on adult characters, but kids play a big part in the story, too. Would you consider this series a "family show," or is it better left to moms and dads? Which of the younger characters, if any, do you relate do? What central message is the show sending about parenting in general?

Can a person be flawed and still be a good parent? Is there such a thing as an "ideal" family? How do the characters in Parenthood demonstrate compassion and communication? Why are these important character strengths?
